In 2018, 436 initiatives for nature protection were approved in Kyrgyzstan
In the past year, the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) reviewed 710 applications for funding initiatives for nature protection.
According to the agency's press service, 436 of these were approved, and the total amount already financed for 254 applications amounted to 85 million 889 thousand 300 soms.
It is specified that the main areas of funding for nature protection activities include the rational use of water and land resources, waste management, support for the forestry sector, greening and landscaping, air quality protection, biodiversity conservation, development of specially protected natural areas, and enhancing the capacity for environmental management, among others.
These measures, as noted by the SAEPF, are being implemented within the framework of the decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic "On declaring 2019 the Year of Regional Development and Digitalization of the Country," as well as the Government Program "Unity, Trust, and Creation."
From 2014 to 2018, the SAEPF purchased 87 units of special equipment for all regions of the country from the funds for nature protection and forestry development, totaling 185 million 293 thousand 800 soms. This includes 28 MTZ-82.1 tractors with plows, 37 garbage trucks, 3 aerial platforms and cranes, 3 bulldozers for landfills, 5 excavator-bulldozers, loaders, and trailers, and 5 dump trucks, as well as 6 vacuum and washing machines.
