M. uulu Sh. admitted that his message was not true and was based on unconfirmed rumors. He also confirmed that work on the site is still ongoing.
According to the authorized representative of the president in the Jalal-Abad region, the rumors about the "freezing" of the project have no basis. Currently, the construction of the new international airport, covering an area of 381 hectares, is proceeding according to schedule.
The project is commissioned by the State Enterprise "Airports of Kyrgyzstan," and the general contractor is the State Enterprise "Kyrgyzstroyservice," which operates under the president's management.
"The design of the aerodrome part is being carried out by the State Enterprise 'Kyrgyzdortransproekt,' while the terminal project is being developed by the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Ministry of Architecture, Construction, and Housing and Communal Services," the press service added.
The representative office also noted that temporary delays in some processes were related to the need to relocate power lines located on the construction site, as well as unfavorable weather conditions. Nevertheless, the contractors' work continues as usual.
Main technical characteristics of the facility:
- Capacity: the new 3-story terminal will be able to serve 350 passengers per hour.
- Runway: its length is 3,800 meters, and its width is 60 meters. Currently, preparatory work is being carried out before laying the asphalt surface. More than 70 units of specialized equipment are involved in the construction site.
- Airport class: this facility belongs to category 4E, which will allow it to accommodate large aircraft such as the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 and A321.
