
In the Papan Ayil Okmotu of the Kara-Sui District, explanatory seminars were held regarding compliance with hunting rules and environmental protection. These events were organized in response to the alarming situation concerning violations in this area.
According to data from the Osh Regional Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, the number of registered violations in 2024 amounted to 48 cases, with a total fine of about 800,000 soms. In 2025, this figure sharply increased to 178 protocols and over 2 million soms in penalties. The trend continues, and in just the first two months of 2026, 78 protocols have already been drawn up.
Experts from various agencies and environmental organizations provided local residents with information about the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 55, concerning hunting rules in Kyrgyzstan, which came into effect on February 4, 2025. Participants were informed about the conditions for legal hunting and the consequences of poaching.
Experts from the southern branch of NABU Kyrgyzstan also presented a presentation about the snow leopard, which is the national symbol of the country. They discussed the importance of protecting this rare species and the threats to its existence.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, staff from the Environmental and Technical Supervision Service, as well as NABU specialists. Similar meetings are planned to be held in other districts of the region to combat illegal hunting and preserve biodiversity.
