As of February 20 of this year, the annual inflation rate in Kyrgyzstan was 9.6%. This was reported by Ainura Mambetkul kyzy, head of the monetary policy department of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic.

She noted that prices have increased by 1.8% since the beginning of the year.

“The main reason for the increase in inflation has been global market conditions and external factors. The rise in prices for imported goods triggered a chain reaction, which reflected in the increase in prices in the domestic market. The rising cost of imported products has intensified inflationary pressure in the country,” she added.

According to Mambetkul kyzy, Kyrgyzstan's dependence on imports is a key factor contributing to the current inflationary processes.
