Starting from May 1, despite changes in prices, the population of Kyrgyzstan will pay only 45% of the actual cost of electricity. This was announced by Timur Orozaliev, director of the department for regulating the fuel and energy complex, in an interview with the Kabar agency.

According to him, in 2026 the cost of one kilowatt-hour will be 3 soms and 3 tyiyns.

“The electricity tariff from May 1 will be set at 1 som and 64 tyiyns, which is only 45% of the current cost,” noted Orozaliev.

Additionally, the deputy general director of OJSC "NESK," Ulubek Duysho uulu, added that tariffs in Kyrgyzstan are the lowest in Central Asia. As an example, he cited the tariffs of neighboring countries: in Kazakhstan, the price ranges from 4.31 to 5.54 soms, in Uzbekistan from 4.30 to 7.30 soms, and in Tajikistan from 3.16 to 3.60 soms per kilowatt-hour.

It is worth noting that the new tariffs, which come into effect on May 1, are divided into eight main categories of consumers, including households, industrial facilities, and budget institutions.

The Cabinet plans to achieve self-sufficiency of the energy system by 2030, actively attracting "green" financing and developing public-private partnerships.
