A temporary ban on the export of livestock has been introduced in Kyrgyzstan


The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced the introduction of a temporary restriction on the export of agricultural animals. This decision was signed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev.

The ban will be in effect for six months and covers the following categories of animals, defined by the EAEU customs codes:

Cattle (code 0102); Horses (code 0101); Sheep and goats (code 0104).

Exceptions to the ban

Despite the imposed restrictions, the export of animals is still allowed in the following cases:

Transit: Transportation of livestock through the territory of Kyrgyzstan from other countries. Sports purposes: Export of horses for participation in international competitions. Diplomatic transfers: Horses donated to foreign states, international organizations, or private individuals. Air transportation: Export of horses using air transport. State operator: Export of live livestock through JSC "Kyrgyz Agroholding" (except for animals that were bred in the country).

Objectives of this decision

The main goal of the introduced ban is to ensure the food security of the country and stabilize prices for meat and meat products in the domestic market.

Competent state authorities have been instructed to increase control at checkpoints and take all necessary measures to implement this resolution.
