When joining the EAEU, Kyrgyz citizens will be able to import cars at previous customs rates until 2020

However, those wishing to sell cars in EAEU countries will have to pay the difference to the level of the Eurasian Union rates.

Until 2020, Kyrgyz citizens, whether individuals or legal entities, will be able to import cars into the country under the previous conditions, that is, at the previously established customs rates, which are lower than those in the EAEU. This was reported by Fedor Chernitsyn, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Secretary of the Working Group on Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, at a press conference.

“However, considering Kazakhstan's concerns, which fears that a flow of cheap foreign cars from Kyrgyzstan will flood into their country, we, together with our Kyrgyz partners, established a so-called cutoff date — January 1, 2014. This means that cars imported into Kyrgyzstan from January 1, 2014, until 2020 will be imported at the usual rates, not at the Eurasian ones, but at the Kyrgyz ones, and here you can sell and buy them freely. But if you want to sell them in the EAEU territory, then you will have to pay the difference to the level of the Eurasian Union rates,” explained Fedor Chernitsyn.

According to him, all vehicles imported before 2014 can be sold duty-free, without any payments.
