- Cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation in 2016 will develop in several directions at all levels. We are participants in several unions: the EAEU, the CSTO, and the SCO… The issues of our interaction were discussed in detail in Moscow at the end of December. The agenda included challenges related to the integration of new countries into the EAEU, the consequences of the global economic crisis, minimizing the losses that our economies bear, and increasing bilateral trade among EAEU members. You know that exports from Kyrgyzstan are primarily aimed at Kazakhstan and Russia, and therefore decisions were made to facilitate the export of key goods from the republic, particularly agricultural products, and to cooperate with regions interested in purchasing them, - assured the diplomat. - But much more needs to be done. In particular, small logistics centers for the primary processing of agricultural products need to be created in Kyrgyzstan. Partners have already been chosen for this path: they include Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Novosibirsk region, Altai Krai, and some regions of Eastern Siberia. In December, a delegation from St. Petersburg visited, led by the vice-governor, and a resolution on cooperation and the restoration of trade and economic ties with the Leningrad region is currently being approved. During the Soviet era, this region was supplied with livestock and dairy products from Kyrgyzstan – these areas are also planned for future cooperation.
It is worth noting that Russia remains one of the most promising and stable partners for Kyrgyzstan. Cooperation between the states in the economic sphere is strengthening: according to the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, from January to October 2015, exports of goods from the Kyrgyz Republic to the Russian Federation increased by 124.9%.
