This news, by the way, is not fake. Last Tuesday, October 16, the idea of attracting investments to Kyrgyzstan through the introduction of investment citizenship or investment residency indeed became a hot topic of discussion at a meeting of the Business Development and Entrepreneurship Council with the participation of deputies and business representatives. According to the head of the International Business Council, Askar Sydykov, the first stage - obtaining residency in exchange for investments - is expected to be implemented if a foreigner invests at least 100 thousand US dollars in Kyrgyzstan.

- Every year it becomes increasingly difficult to attract investments to the country. It is harder to entice. One of the mechanisms is investment citizenship or the provision of residency. In exchange for investments, it is proposed to simplify the process of granting residency or citizenship. Who needs this? Some seek preferential taxation, others need access to the market, in our case - to the EAEU market.

It should be noted that the investment attractiveness of Kyrgyzstan remains extremely low for a number of reasons - from political instability to the corruption of officials and the weakness of legislation, which is not fully implemented even in cases where the interests of investors could be protected. According to the Doing Business 2018 report, Kyrgyzstan's position has dropped by two points over the past two years (from 75th to 77th place), and according to Forbes' ranking, Kyrgyzstan has the most unfavorable conditions for doing business in the region among Central Asian countries - 123rd place out of 153 possible.
