As noted by the chairman of the festival jury, actor Vladimir Menshov, Kyrgyzstan produced a film that would not have been possible even with Soviet budgets.

The domestic film "Kurmanjan Datka" received the Grand Prix at the XI International Muslim Film Festival in Kazan (Tatarstan), reported the press secretary of the "Aitysh-film" studio, Cholpon Idrisova.

The film "Kurmanjan Datka" has been translated into Turkish. The Muslim Film Festival took place from September 5 to 11 in Kazan (Tatarstan). This year, the organizers received over 700 applications, of which 51 were included in the competitive program.
The main prize in the "Best Picture" category was awarded by the jury chairman, renowned Russian film director, screenwriter, and Oscar winner Vladimir Menshov.

"Kurmanjan Datka" is a very instructive story that one must try to understand. Kyrgyzstan is not the richest republic, but it created a film that would not have been allowed to be made even with Soviet film budgets. After watching it, I felt a desire to look closely at this country," noted Menshov.

Previously, the film received a special jury prize at a film festival in Iran and also won the main awards at the Tiburon Film Forum (USA) in the categories of "Best Film" and "Best Cinematography." "Kurmanjan Datka" was released in 2014. In Kyrgyzstan, the premiere took place on August 31 — Independence Day of the republic, and globally on August 22. The film's runtime is 135 minutes, and the budget is 1 million 500 thousand dollars. The director of the film is Sadik Sher-Niyaz.

The domestic film was also recognized as the best at the International Eurasian Film Festival in New York, and the best cinematography was awarded at the International Ethnic Film Festival "Akbuzat" in Bashkortostan.
