The Open Championship of the Kyrgyz Republic in Cable Wakeboarding will take place in Bishkek
The Kyrgyz sports community is preparing for a celebration. The Federation of Water Skiing and Wakeboarding, the wake park "ON the WAKE," and the Federation of Snowboarding and Extreme Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic, with the support of the creative association "Sun People," will hold the Open Championship of the Kyrgyz Republic in Cable Wakeboarding. The competition will take place on August 29 at the "ON the WAKE" facility, where athletes of various levels will compete for a total prize pool of 60,000 soms – with 3 prize places in each category.

Wakeboarding is an extreme sport and active recreation that includes elements of slalom water skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, and acrobatics. There are two varieties: boat wakeboarding, where a boat is used for towing, and cable wakeboarding, where the athlete moves across the water using a mechanized system of cables and winches. In both cases, the performance of acrobatic tricks and jumps is encouraged. The emergence of wakeboarding dates back to the mid-1980s, originating from surfers who were too lazy to wait for the right waves. In Kyrgyzstan, this sport has existed for three years, with the main venue being the "ON the WAKE" park, which recently celebrated its second anniversary.

All interested riders can participate in the competition. To register, a rider must sign up at the "ON the WAKE" wake park by 20:00 on August 28, 2015. A passport or birth certificate (for participants under 14 years old) must be provided. Out-of-town riders who cannot personally confirm their registration on-site during the specified days can seek assistance from friends by providing them with a copy of their documents, or send copies of their documents to the email address: [email protected] with the subject "CK2015." Four competitive categories are preliminarily planned - Open Boys (ages 8 to 15), Open Juniors (ages 15 to 20), Open Men (no age limit), and Open Ladies (no age limit). Additionally, a registration fee of 1,500 soms must be paid, and equipment must be prepared – without it, entry to the course will not be allowed. There is also an additional registration period – from 20:00 on August 28 to 10:00 on August 29, with those using this option paying a fine of 500 soms.
