The "Rocktoberfest-2015" festival was held for the first time on a large scale and outdoors in the "Flamingo" park. All guests of the event had a unique opportunity to taste delicious beer, grilled sausages, and various other treats. The festival gathered hundreds of city residents who enjoyed themselves throughout the day until midnight. This event was dedicated to the traditional autumn German harvest festival "Oktoberfest," and families and large groups of friends from Bishkek came to the park.
The festive atmosphere of the day was enhanced by a gypsy ensemble, performances by various rock bands, and numerous contests. A large fair was set up in the park where handmade items and various delicacies could be purchased. On this day, the "king" and "queen" of the festival were chosen, and a sausage-eating contest took place.
"Oktoberfest" is the largest folk festival in the world. It usually takes place from mid-September to early October in Germany. However, in recent years, the festival has been held in all major cities around the world. We decided to hold a similar festival in Bishkek. There will be many contests and giveaways today. Of course, many associate it with beer, but in reality, it is a family holiday: there is plenty of food, a fair, and entertainment," noted the event organizer Larisa Loginova.
It turns out that "Oktoberfest" actually has its origins from October 12, 1810, when Crown Prince Ludwig celebrated his marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The festivities, to which the citizens of Munich were invited, took place in front of the city gates on a meadow named after the bride.
As the organizers note, Rocktoberfest has resonated with the hearts of Bishkek residents, and it will now be held annually.
