The court overturned the sentence of former Tokmok mayor Maksat Nusuvaliev

The court has decided to overturn the sentence handed down to former Tokmok mayor Maksat Nusuvaliev, who was previously convicted of corruption. Along with other defendants, he was released directly in the courtroom, where he was placed under house arrest.

The case will be sent for retrial in the court of first instance.

It is worth noting that Nusuvaliev was detained during the summer period while an inspection was being conducted by the then-head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev. During this operation, the head of the Municipal Construction Department and one of the local developers were also detained. As a result, two criminal cases were initiated.

The investigation began after numerous complaints from the residents of Tokmok and appeals from local deputies.

In November, the court found Nusuvaliev guilty of corruption and sentenced him to 13 years in prison. However, this decision has now been overturned, and the case materials have been sent for a new review.
