The wives of three American presidents wear brooches and necklaces by the famous Kyrgyz artist-jeweler Viktor Syrnev.
“I receive orders from people who want unique jewelry, as these are always one-of-a-kind pieces, taking into account the personality of the client. Jewelry is also ordered for famous individuals. The wives of three American presidents own my jewelry, including brooches and necklaces. I was commissioned to create pieces specifically for them,” said the artist-jeweler.
Orders were made for Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, and of course for Michelle Obama, the master clarified.
“This year, a brooch of mine was also presented as a gift to German Chancellor Angela Merkel,” added V. Syrnev.
Viktor Syrnev's original works have also been given as gifts to the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
“My jewelry is also present among the Russian elite. At one time, Lyudmila Gurchenko wore my jewelry at the Cannes Film Festival; we were well acquainted. She bought my jewelry, and I gifted her some pieces. We had such a kind human relationship,” noted the famous Kyrgyz jeweler.
Currently, V. Syrnev is preparing for upcoming international exhibitions that will take place in 2016 and 2017.
“There are several exhibitions ahead, several themes related to jewelry. I am currently working on this. In addition, I continue to work on the collection 'The Poetry of Goethe',” V. Syrnev reported.
The jeweler admitted that he rarely uses domestic materials. “I use some of our stones, but we don’t have many stones that can be used for jewelry. There was jasper, but to use these materials, they must be with the artist. I cannot search for stones in the mountains and then look for a master to process them. We don’t have a place where these materials are sold. I look for such workshops everywhere in any city and country. I have stones that have been with me for 50 years, waiting for their purpose,” shared V. Syrnev.
Viktor Syrnev is the author of the badges for the presidents Roza Otunbayeva and Almazbek Atambayev.
