The first batch of containers for solid waste has been delivered to Bishkek.

Recently, the municipal authorities of the capital have repeatedly stated that the solution to the garbage problem in Bishkek is moving from a "dead point." To substantiate this, the city authorities organized a press tour for media representatives and demonstrated proof – the first batch of garbage containers purchased with funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development project "Improvement of the Solid Waste Management System in Bishkek."

- The new containers are manufactured to European standards using hot-dip galvanization for specialized rear-loading equipment. The estimated service life of the containers is about 15 years, - reported the press service of the city hall.

The tender for the purchase of containers for solid household waste was won by the consortium of OsOO "Asiaavtoцентр" and "RG-techno." Bishkek has already received 600 galvanized and 300 plastic containers (the latter are intended for city schools). The next batches will arrive in Bishkek within four months. A total of 5,326 containers for solid waste collection are to be supplied. Additionally, the delivery of large containers for construction waste is expected.

It is worth noting that the cost of the project "Improvement of the Solid Waste Management System in Bishkek" is 22 million euros: 11 million in grant funds and the same amount in loans. In the first phase of project implementation, it is planned to purchase, in addition to containers for solid waste, 34 units of specialized equipment. The second phase will focus on the reclamation of the old city landfill and the construction of a new landfill site with a waste sorting plant.
