After unsuccessful "tree experiments" in previous years and the unprecedented incident of the main tree of the country falling, the residents of Bishkek did not lose hope of seeing a worthy green beauty in the square. Discussions and flash mobs were held on social media, calling on the city hall to provide the capital with a beautiful symbol of the New Year. The city authorities listened to the public criticism and promised to install a new tree.
While in previous years the New Year's tree in the square was assembled from live spruce branches, secured on a 23-meter metal frame, this year the choice was made in favor of artificial foliage. The modular structure, 25 meters tall and with a base diameter of 12 meters, was purchased by the city hall from China. The installation and decoration of the tree were handled by the municipal enterprises "Bishkeksvet" and "Tazalyk".
- The tree structure has been installed and 1,530 coniferous branches have been secured, - reported the press service of the Bishkek city hall. - For the stability of the New Year's beauty, concrete slabs weighing a total of 22.5 tons have been placed at the base. At this stage, 64,000 LED lamps have been installed on the tree.
It should be noted that the new tree has pleasantly surprised many residents. Its decoration is still ongoing, but there have already been many positive reviews about the work done by the city hall on social media and forums. The ceremonial lighting of Kyrgyzstan's main New Year's tree will take place on December 19 at 18:00.
