- During the investigations into informal payments and fees in schools, parents complained that information about the school was closed, including data on budget financing: “We don’t know how much money the ministry allocates, whether there are enough computers in this school, how many teachers there are?! You can’t reach the principal...”. Parents are right; information should be open. Over the past months, we conducted an inventory of schools, each now has its own 10-digit number; schools have been plotted on the online map with basic information. For the first time, computers purchased in 2015 were distributed only among those schools that truly needed them, - said the Minister of Education and Science Elvira Sarieva. – In the future, we will supplement the school data with information on construction and major repairs, and then on the volume of state funding for each school. The more transparent our data is, the more objectively parents can assess the school.
Currently, the system is operating in test mode, and the map is constantly being updated. It is expected that by the end of 2016, it will cover not only public schools. Kindergartens, universities, and private schools in the republic will also appear on the map.
