Lithium-ion batteries will no longer be allowed on airplanes
The International Civil Aviation Organization will soon prohibit the transportation of lithium-ion batteries on passenger airplanes.

The ban on bringing batteries for mobile phones, laptops, cameras, and other electronics onto airplanes will take effect in April of this year. This restriction is related to the high fire hazard posed by lithium-ion batteries. Previously, only lithium-metal batteries, which were most commonly used in watches, were prohibited on aircraft. The ban on transporting batteries will remain in place until fire-resistant packaging is developed for them.

This ban will affect 191 member countries of the International Civil Aviation Organization – a specialized agency of the UN that establishes international standards for civil aviation and coordinates its development to enhance safety and efficiency.
