Kyrgyzstan is experiencing a rapid increase in population. This was stated by specialists from the National Statistical Committee at a press conference on Thursday.
According to the agency, in 2013, 155.5 thousand people were born, 34.8 thousand died, resulting in a population growth of 113.5 thousand people.
“The growth in population is primarily due to the increase in the number of women aged 20-29. They account for the majority of the children born. There are indicators that characterize fertility; in our case, this indicator is three children per woman,” noted Tamara Taipova, a specialist in the demographic statistics department of the National Statistical Committee.
