
– Any regional association causes dissatisfaction among those who lose from its creation, – Rusakov noted. – As for Russia, the fight against the EAEU has mainly been conducted through non-profit organizations funded from abroad. The law “On Foreign Agents” was intended to make the financial inflows to NGOs transparent. This law is neither good nor bad; however, at this point, it is a necessity. It would be worth considering the creation of such a law in Kyrgyzstan, as it would help make the spending of foreign financial flows transparent.
According to the expert, the EAEU, despite the changed economic situation, is very important for both Russia and the other member countries of the Union.
– By obtaining a market of 200 million people, we can dictate demands to producers of goods and services. Such a market is attractive to large investors. We are already seeing how some of them are relocating part of their production to the territory of the EAEU, – said Andrey Rusakov.
Regarding the political risks for the EAEU countries, the head of the Center for European-Asian Studies notes that they are minimal. This is evidenced by the strong support for the EAEU from the people of the CIS. According to the expert, about 80 percent of the citizens of the former USSR support economic integration.
– Parliamentary elections will soon take place in Kyrgyzstan. And it is encouraging to note that none of the parties dispute the importance of the republic's entry into the Eurasian Economic Union. The situation in Kyrgyzstan and other Union countries indicates a complete consolidation of the political elites of all five EAEU countries. However, to continue developing the economy and improving friendly relations between our countries, it is necessary to combat the negative information influence that malicious actors exert on the social well-being of the EAEU population, – said Rusakov.
