According to him, the Kyrgyz leadership is currently in a difficult position. On one hand, Kyrgyzstan is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, a member of the CSTO, and a strategic ally of Russia. In turn, the Russian Federation provides the republic with very serious economic and military assistance. On the other hand, it is well known that the President of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambayev, has good relations with Turkish President Erdogan.
– Undoubtedly, economic and political cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey is actively developing. The presidents of these countries are on warm friendly terms. The situation with the downed Russian Su-24 puts Kyrgyzstan in a difficult position, but in any case, we must conduct an open and consistent international policy, – noted the former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic. – The entire world community is aware that the downed Russian plane fell on Syrian territory. Everyone also knows what mission the Russian military is performing in Syria. Therefore, the position of the Kyrgyz government should be open and align with Russia's position.
Let us remind you that Russia suffered its first losses since the beginning of the special operation in Syria. On November 24, a Su-24 aircraft of the Russian air group crashed on Syrian territory, four kilometers from the border with Turkey. In turn, the Turkish General Staff stated that it had struck the plane that violated the country's airspace.
As noted by Kazakh expert and public figure Kazbek Beisebaev, “what happened has confused the cards of the countries involved in the Syrian conflict. But now the consequences for Russia and Turkey are much more important, as well as how all this will affect the global balance.”
