The EU will provide Kyrgyzstan with a new government budget support program of 30 million euros, reports the news agency 24.kg on Thursday, citing the EU representation in the Kyrgyz Republic.
This program is aimed at reforming the government. These funds will be included in the new social protection strategy for 2015-2017.
According to the agency, at the same time, the EU is assessing the fulfillment of conditions for the allocation of five million euros in budget support for social protection, and an independent group of experts has presented its findings on the Kyrgyz government's compliance with the conditions for the payment of the aforementioned amount. These were announced at a management committee meeting at the Ministry of Finance.
Five million euros is part of a 13-million-euro payment under the implementation program of the state social protection strategy for 2012-2014, aimed at improving the quality of life of the most vulnerable segments of the population.
This involves the reform of children's boarding institutions and strengthening the public finance management system. In addition, the EU provides expert consultations and training.
A decision on the full payment of five million euros will be made by the EU headquarters in Brussels, and this will be announced by the end of the year.
