From January to September of this year, migrants transferred $1 billion 581.1 million to Kyrgyzstan, reports the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic
In August, the volume of money transfers amounted to $262 million. At the same time, the majority of the amount - $257.4 million - came from Russia.
During the reporting period of 2017, $1 billion 552.2 million was transferred from Russia to Kyrgyzstan. Compared to the same period last year, the inflow increased by $320 million, or by 20.3 percent.
The volume of money transfers from Kyrgyzstan to other countries amounted to $271.9 million. In August, $42.7 million was transferred.
The net inflow of funds into the republic reached $1 billion 205.5 million.
According to the State Migration Service, in different seasons of the year, about 750 thousand Kyrgyz citizens are working abroad, of which 570 thousand are in Russia, 130 thousand in Kazakhstan, and the rest in countries far abroad (data for 2016).
