On December 12, a specialized shop will open at the National Historical and Archaeological Museum Complex "Sulaiman-Too" in the city of Osh.
In it, residents and tourists of the southern capital of Kyrgyzstan will be able to purchase souvenir products as gifts or keepsakes.
The shelves will feature souvenir products and artistic items made by local artisans, telling the story of the museum's collection, exhibits, art, history, and culture of Kyrgyzstan.
- In the modern world, museums are becoming more interactive; they have their own websites and social media pages that engage visitors. In our country, there are about 55 state museums, most of which are unknown to the general public. Only 5 museums have a website, and only one museum can offer its own souvenirs to visitors, - noted Baktygul Midinova, the leader and creative inspirer of the "Museum Shop" project. - I believe it is important to develop museum shops because it increases interest in creativity and the study of art, ensuring access to artistic and cultural works anywhere in the world. The project is implemented with the support of USAID.
Project representatives are collaborating with local artisans to create products made of leather, wood, felt, and metal. The team is preparing a new line of souvenirs based on the collection of the National Historical and Archaeological Museum Complex "Sulaiman-Too" for the shop's opening.
It is expected that the shop will open new opportunities for local artisans to sell and promote their products.
