Athletes from Kyrgyzstan took three prize places at the bodybuilding championship in Almaty
The 12th Open City Championship in bodybuilding, classic bodybuilding, fitness, bodyfitness, fitness bikini, men's physique, and women's physique has concluded in Almaty. Three athletes from Kyrgyzstan returned from the competition with medals. A total of 76 people participated in the championship.

The gold medal at the competition in Almaty was won by Kyrgyz athlete Sergey Aslapovsky in the "Bodybuilding up to 90 kg" category. The athlete from Kyrgyzstan, Konstantin Pushnyakov, took third place in the "Classic Bodybuilding up to 180 cm" category. In the "Bodyfitness up to 168 cm" category, Lyubov Maleeva secured third place.

– The victory of Kyrgyz athletes at the championship in Kazakhstan once again proves that there are worthy bodybuilders in Kyrgyzstan, – says IA Lyudmila Yelgina, the official representative of the Kyrgyzstan national team. – We have already purchased tickets for our athletes to the international championship, which will take place on October 4 in Astana. I hope that the athletes from Kyrgyzstan will show excellent results there as well!

According to Yelgina, Kyrgyz bodybuilders have very good potential; however, the main problem of this sport in the republic is that athletes rarely travel to international competitions.

– At the championship in Almaty, our athletes were surprised by the very strict judging. In Kyrgyzstan, competitions in bodybuilding and fitness are more friendly in nature. However, this was a valuable experience for us, and in future competitions, our guys will perform at their best, – noted Lyudmila Yelgina.
