The 'Fight of the Century' between the Kyrgyzstani athlete and the American MMA fighter was overshadowed by hooligans
Last weekend, a significant sporting event took place in Bishkek at the amphitheater arena of the "Ala-Too" restaurant. American MMA fighter Jeff Monson arrived in the republic to compete against Kyrgyzstani athlete Zamirbek Syrgabaev, who is also a deputy of the Kyzyl-Kiya council. The two fighters entered the ring according to the conditions of the MMA Jash Kuch Fighting Championship (JFC).

Jeff Monson is a two-time winner of the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship and a world champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Under MMA rules, he has fought 79 matches, winning 55 of them. This was the first time such a high-level athlete visited Kyrgyzstan.

Several dozen young people, unable to enter the amphitheater due to a lack of space, attempted to break through the cordon using stones as weapons, causing significant damage to the building. The leadership of the capital's police department, the police department of the October district, and an investigative operational group arrived at the scene, managing to detain and bring 38 individuals to the police department of the October district. Criminal cases were initiated against four of them under Article 234 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic "Hooliganism," and the detainees were placed in the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek police department. Administrative protocols were drawn up for the others for offenses under Article 364 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility "Administrative offenses affecting public order and public safety." All of them will have to pay for the restoration of the restaurant amphitheater.
Questions remain regarding the security arrangements for the event and the organizers of the competition.

Despite this, the championship continued as planned. A total of 13 matches took place - 11 regular and three super fights, where athletes from Kyrgyzstan faced opponents from the USA, Brazil, Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. As a result of the MMA JFC competition in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstani fighters achieved 11 victories, one defeat, and one draw. The key match was Syrgabaev vs. Monson, which ended in favor of the Kyrgyzstani athlete.

- Honestly, I will end my sports career with this fight. Winning against Monson is a great achievement for a 40-year-old athlete. Now I will train students. Yesterday they performed admirably; I had no doubts about them. I will start promoting them to the highest step of the podium, - the champion told journalists. - First of all, I will get some sleep. Then I will make a sacrifice. After that, I will start training. Moreover, I am a deputy of the Kyzyl-Kiya city council and must fulfill my duties as a people's representative!
