Kyrgyz Basketball Players Advance to the Quarterfinals of the Asian Championship
From October 27 to 29, 2017, the FIBA Asia Cup in basketball 3x3 is taking place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Initially, this event was planned to be held in Shenzhen (China). The upcoming 3x3 tournament is the second of its kind, with the first having taken place in Doha, Qatar, on May 15-16, 2013. It is worth noting that this sporting event is being held for the second time for Asian countries, and for Oceania - for the first time.
This is the first official FIBA 3x3 event held in Mongolia.
The Kyrgyzstan national basketball team (3X3) has already advanced to the quarterfinals of the championship.
The final round of the championship features 12 teams divided into four groups.
Kyrgyzstan played in Group "D" alongside China and India. In their opening match, they won against India with a score of 21:19, but then lost to China by a narrow margin of 20:21.
In turn, in the match between the opponents, India lost to China with a score of 15:22. Thus, finishing in second place, the Kyrgyzstan team advanced to the quarterfinals, with matches starting on October 29.
In addition to Kyrgyzstan and China, Mongolia, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Kazakhstan, and Taipei have also reached the quarterfinals. According to the draw, Kyrgyzstan will play against New Zealand.
