Kyrgyzstan's team takes first place in the medal standings of the III World Nomad Games
A total of 303.1 million soms has been allocated from the republican budget for the organization of the III World Nomad Games (in 2016, 258.6 million soms were allocated for the II WNG). The total prize fund for the sports part of the III World Nomad Games is set at 28 million soms, and for the cultural part, 7 million soms.
The program of the games included 37 sports (23 sports in 2016). Athletes from 103 countries were invited to the nomad games, with 1,976 participants arriving from 74 countries.
In the I World Nomad Games in 2014, it is worth noting, 583 athletes from 19 countries participated.
The competitions were held in 10 sports.
In 2016, at the II World Nomad Games, the number of participants increased. At that time, 1,200 athletes from 62 countries competed for medals in 26 sports.
The nomad games received extensive coverage in the global press. Instead of the accredited 571 journalists, 604 representatives of foreign media from 56 countries actually participated. Among them were 50 TV channels, 12 radio stations, 67 news agencies, 48 newspapers, and 50 bloggers.
The III World Nomad Games were broadcast in more than 60 countries around the world.
Additionally, the nomad games were covered by over 700 representatives from 70 domestic media outlets. This included 26 online publications, 7 radio stations, over 30 state, regional, and private TV channels, and 12 print publications.
Representatives from well-known publications such as BBC, The New York Times, Financial Times, National Geographic Society, Associated Press, the Canadian Journal of Nomads, Al Jazeera network, CCTV, Kazakhstan's "Khabar," and many others participated in covering the event.
As a result of the games, Kyrgyz athletes won 40 gold, 32 silver, and 31 bronze medals. In the overall team standings, the Kyrgyz team took first place.
Athletes from Kazakhstan, who took second place, won 18 gold, 24 silver, and 34 bronze medals. The Russians, who ranked third in the overall team standings, won 17 gold, 12 silver, and 27 bronze medals.

The ceremonial event was enhanced by performances from foreign artists: the groups “Akcent,” “Dschinghis Khan,” “La boush,” “Korni,” Ecuadorian musician Leo Rojas, French performers Murad Buraui and Alain Depardieu, guest from Uzbekistan Ozoda Nursaidova, and many others. Domestic performers Mirbek Atabekov, Gulnur Satylganova, Kairat Primberdiev, Toktobek Asanaliev, the group “Aura,” the folk ethnographic ensemble “Kambarakan,” and others also performed at the concert.
