Kyrgyzstan Wins the National Geographic Traveler Contest for the Second Time

Kyrgyzstan won the National Geographic Traveler contest for the second time

Kyrgyzstan has once again become a priority for Russian tourists. This year, the republic won in the category "Best Destinations for Photo Tours".

Kyrgyzstan won the international competition announced by National Geographic Traveler magazine in the category "Best Destinations for Photo Tours," reports the online resource "Russia for Everyone".

The organizers of the competition noted that about a quarter of a million Russians participated in the voting, considering the leading tourist countries in 18 categories.

"The mountain republic was remembered by the Russians themselves, who voted for various countries in different categories. Moreover, Issyk-Kul and mountain tourism in Kyrgyzstan were so appealing to the Russians that the country received more than 80 percent of the votes," the organizers explained.

At the award ceremony, the prize was presented to Aiymkhan Kulukeeva, the second secretary of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Russia.
"Kyrgyzstan is rich in tourist resources — Issyk-Kul, mountains, kumis, the purest drinking water in the world, and an improving infrastructure year by year. New airlines have opened that will allow access to Issyk-Kul from both Bishkek and Kazakhstan. A new service has emerged — ski resorts can now be visited by helicopter," Kulukeeva said.
Previously, on November 20, 2014, Kyrgyzstan was the leader of the same international competition in the category "Health and Wellness Tourism," surpassing Israel and Vietnam.
