The Guardian included Kyrgyzstan in the top 40 destinations for tourists in 2019
In this mountainous country, the people still preserve the ancient tradition of hunting with golden eagles, and tourists are invited to taste kumys, the publication notes.
The popular British publication The Guardian presented a list of 40 destinations for travelers in 2019.
Kyrgyzstan made it to the top list.
“In this landlocked mountainous country of Central Asia, there are vast areas of untouched wilderness where semi-nomadic peoples still hunt with golden eagles. Visitors can witness this tradition at Issyk-Kul,” The Guardian comments on the country.
The article notes that a large village called Kochkor, located to the west of Issyk-Kul, is a good base for hikers, with trails leading through passes over 4,000 meters high. Most routes pass through yurt camps, and travelers may be invited to join shepherds and their families to taste kumys.
