"Ilim" DOC NAN KR children's health complex
The northern shore of the azure Issyk-Kul is the most populated part of the Issyk-Kul valley, and according to an old tradition, there are many more vacationers here in the summer than local residents. In every settlement in the north, there are boarding houses and rest homes, small guest houses, and luxurious hotels. Even during Soviet times, a large number of children's health resorts and summer camps appeared here, many of which are still successfully operating today. The most "camp-like" place on the northern coast has always been the village of Dolinka – it was home to the most popular pioneer camps. Three months of rest and fun, pioneer bonfires until dawn with songs under the guitar and potatoes baked in the ashes, hikes and excursions, smiling counselors, and good friends – this is what Dolinka meant for Soviet pioneers.
Today, Dolinka is called Kara-Oy, but despite the name change, the village remains one of the most popular places for summer children's recreation. Here, seventy-five kilometers from the western gates of the Issyk-Kul valley – the city of Balykchy – is the state children's health camp Ilim, one of the best holiday homes for children on the entire northern shore of Issyk-Kul. Ilim was built during the Soviet era, and despite regular updates and renovations on its territory, the camp has retained that amazing atmosphere of children's unity that was characteristic of all pioneer camps of the Soviet era. Essentially, it is an old-fashioned pioneer camp in a modern format, with all its characteristic features – cozy shady alleys, marching to the dining hall, exciting camp adventures, and swimming in the azure waters of Issyk-Kul under the strict supervision of experienced swimming instructors.
The territory of Ilim is characterized by a lush abundance of fresh greenery. Huge Tien Shan pines and blue Issyk-Kul firs, sprawling birch branches, and mighty slender poplar candles fill the camp air with purity and a gentle rustle of leaves, creating cool shadows on the numerous alleys of the camp. Thanks to the large number of trees on the territory, it is always fresh and not too hot here, and a light salty breeze from the lake and the subtle bitter scent of wormwood make the air particularly "tasty." The camp is further brightened and made cozy by well-maintained neat lawns and numerous flowerbeds. The camp has its own sandy beach, very clean and well-kept, with a long pier, changing rooms, and mushroom-shaped umbrellas.
The camp operates in several shifts. Children are accommodated in comfortable, well-equipped buildings by squads. Each squad consists of approximately 35 children, divided by age. Each room in the building accommodates several children. Four meals a day in the camp dining hall are organized in strict accordance with healthy lifestyle norms – this is closely monitored by medical staff and sanitary epidemiological supervision. The dining hall menu is quite diverse and well-balanced. In addition to the necessary hearty hot dishes, there are mandatory dairy products, fresh vegetables and fruits, baked goods, and various desserts on the children's tables. Moreover, in the dining hall, children are taught order and discipline – specially appointed duty officers carefully monitor cleanliness, and everyone is responsible for cleaning up after themselves.

Every evening, the camp hosts a disco – a favorite entertainment for children and teenagers. Several times during the shift, counselors organize traditional squad gatherings around the campfire with their charges. The crackling of logs, the light smell of smoke, the fresh breeze from the sea, interesting stories, and songs under the guitar – such evenings remain in memory for a long time. In addition, every year the camp prepares an interesting and engaging program for its little guests. Numerous contests and competitions, exciting educational seminars, excursions, hikes, and much more are organized annually by the camp administration, and each year children can expect a new program. During their stay at the camp, children learn English and the history, daily life, and culture of other countries in an engaging and playful manner, discover the mysteries and wonders of nature, and learn to communicate with their peers. Summer at Ilim is the best children's vacation, filled with adventures and useful activities.
