History of Development

The construction and development of the railway in Kyrgyzstan was carried out in stages. The section of the railway "Lugovaya – Pishpek" was commissioned in 1924, according to the project for the construction of the Turkestan-Siberian Railway.

Thus, the section "Kuvasy - Kyzyl-Kiya" was completed in 1929, "Pishpek – Frunze" in 1930, "Frunze - Kant", "Jalal-Abad - Kok - Yangak", "Kara-Suu - Osh" in 1932, "Uch - Korgon - Tash-Kumyr" in 1936, "Kant – Tokmak" in 1941, and "Tokmak – Bystrovka" in 1942.

The construction of railway sections in the south of the republic "Jalal-Abad – Kok - Yangak", "Kuvasy – Kyzyl – Kiya", "Uch - Kurghan – Tash – Kumyr" was carried out in connection with the industrial development of coal deposits in Kok - Yangak, Kyzyl - Kiya, and Tash - Kumyr to provide fuel primarily for the Fergana Valley of Uzbekistan, while the section "Frunze - Kant" was commissioned with the opening of a sugar factory in the city of the same name in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The railway section built and put into permanent operation in 1950 from the station "Bystrovka" to the station "Rybachye" completes the construction of the railway line from northern Kyrgyzstan from the station "Lugovaya" to the station "Rybachye", which ensured close economic ties between the Kyrgyz Republic and the central regions of Russia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Central Asian states, neighboring countries, and Siberia.

The first train arrived at the station "Pishpek" on August 8, 1924. The workers of Kyrgyzstan joyfully welcomed this outstanding event. Notably, the train consisted of a two-axle railcar for the train crew and a first-class passenger car with guests — members of the newly formed government of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region, established as a result of the national delimitation of the peoples of Central Asia. The first chairman of the Regional Revolutionary Committee was Imanaly Aydarbekov.

In honor of the arrival of the train, the completion of the railway construction, and the opening of temporary traffic on the section "Aulie-Ata - Pishpek", celebrations and a mass rally were organized. The rally took place in the open square in front of the "Pishpek" station, where a greeting from the People's Commissar of Transport of the RSFSR, F. E. Dzerzhinsky, was announced, congratulating the leaders and the people of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region on the outstanding event - the opening of railway communication.
