Ordo Sakhna – The Folk Ethnographic Theater.
Biography. The folk ethnographic theater Ordo Sakhna was established in 1999 and brought together a group of professional musicians, graduates of the conservatory, and laureates of international and regional competitions. The theater is directed by Shamil Djaparov.
The aim of the theater is to preserve, develop, and popularize Kyrgyz folk heritage worldwide. The originality of the theater lies in the fact that its members approach folklore not just with enthusiasm, but with a deep study of the spiritual culture of the Kyrgyz people. Encounters with the bearers of folk traditions have allowed the theater's artists to recreate the ancient dances Bakshy-Biy and Shyrdak-Biy, which had been forgotten until recently. Ordo Sakhna has gathered an exclusive collection of ancient traditional melodies and dastans (small epics), which have come to us through many centuries and generations. Through careful research and experimentation, the musicians have adapted this ancient heritage to modern society.
The artists have examined every aspect of the songs and dances: meticulously recreated traditional costumes, mannerisms of movement, and gestures. With the help of these elements, they have succeeded in recreating a realistic and honest ethnographic picture of Kyrgyz culture.
