June is the sunniest month of the year. Nature delights the eye: it is in all its glory. From June 21 to 25 are the longest days of the year. "In June, dawn reaches out to dawn," people say about this time of long days and short nights. June got its name in honor of the ancient Roman goddess of fertility, guardian of marriage, and ruler of rain, Juno.

The ancient Russian name is izok (grasshopper), cherven, multicolored. In Kyrgyz, this month was called kulja in ancient times.

INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S DAY

International Children's Day is a bright and kind holiday that promotes a responsible attitude towards the upbringing of the younger generation by society and the state. Parents, society, and the state play a special role in ensuring a happy and safe childhood. Our common and sacred duty is to help the child reveal their talents and realize their dreams. Adults must ensure that only warm and joyful memories of this age remain in everyone's memory. What does childhood mean for each person?

Chingiz Aitmatov said it very accurately: "In childhood, the seed of conscience and decency arises, and the way it survives and develops, the conditions created for it, determine the integrity and value of the personality." Therefore, childhood holidays should be more frequent and as bright and joyful as Children's Day, which the world celebrates on June 1.

Our state is taking all measures to reduce the number of problems in the field of child protection. The Government of Kyrgyzstan is currently implementing a new social policy that focuses primarily on large families and particularly vulnerable families, building a flexible system of social assistance for our children, preserving the health of the younger generation, ensuring equal rights in education and upbringing, eliminating child labor, and maintaining a peaceful sky over every child.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

The depletion of pastures and the encroachment of deserts on once fertile lands, climate change, and natural disasters – all of this is the price for the thoughtless attitude of the planet's inhabitants towards their environment.

Only in recent decades have we truly realized that every corner of our planet is part of an ecological system, and therefore environmental problems have no borders.

World Environment Day – the main event of the United Nations – has been celebrated in more than a hundred countries since 1972. The movement for environmental protection is also expanding in our republic. Kyrgyzstan has adopted the Law "On Environmental Protection."

The ecological movement includes major specialists, scientists, public figures, and numerous "green" organizations. In 1999, the Rational Ecological Center of Central Asia was established, with the main goal of uniting the efforts of non-governmental organizations, government structures, and business circles to solve problems related to environmental protection and the rational use of natural resources.

The book by K. R. BERENS "Under the Sky of Mountain Kyrgyzstan" (F.: Kyrgyzstan, 1972. – 159 p.) introduces readers to the nature of our republic and rare species of animals. The author narrates with great love, knowledge, and skill about the habits and behaviors of animals and birds he has observed. It feels as if we step into the vast expanses of fields and mountains, inhale the freshness of the forests, and comprehend the simple and majestic beauty of our native land.

The remarkable changes in nature, the lives of animals and birds, in different seasons are dedicated to the essays of K. R. BERENS "What the Seasons Tell" (F.: Kyrgyzstan, 1973. – 76 p.). The reverence for earthly beauty, the readiness to give all one's strength to protect it from indifferent and cruel hands is the main direction of the book.

INTERNATIONAL RUSSIAN LANGUAGE DAY

The Russian language is one of the six official languages of the UN. Therefore, its widespread celebration is held under the auspices of this international organization and on the birthday of the founder of modern literary Russian, the genius poet, prose writer, and playwright Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin.

The Russian language ranks fourth in the world in terms of prevalence, spoken by 260 million people, with about 130 million in Russia itself. In Kyrgyzstan, teaching in Russian began in 1880, when Russian-native schools started to appear. Since then, Kyrgyz and Russian have gone hand in hand. In the years of independence, the Russian language became the official language in the Kyrgyz Republic. According to former President of Kyrgyzstan R. I. Otunbayeva, "Russian is alive, necessary; it ensures the unity of the people of Kyrgyzstan. For many citizens, it is the only language of communication with the world. It is especially important for the development of science, technology, and medicine in the country."

JUNE 16

DAY OF WORKERS OF WATER MANAGEMENT OF KYRGYZSTAN

Kyrgyzstan can boldly be called a country of lofty lakes, as there are about 2,000 of them in the republic. The water surface of the lakes covers almost 7,000 square kilometers. Here, there are giant lakes whose water volume can rival that of some seas, and tiny lakes that are so small they are not even marked on topographic maps.

The largest lake in the republic is Issyk-Kul. It is deservedly called the "Heavenly Sea," "Pearl of Tien Shan," and "Aquamarine in the Silver Frame of Mountains," which translates from Kyrgyz as "hot lake." Issyk-Kul Lake is located at an altitude of 1,607 m above sea level, with an area of 6,206 square kilometers and a maximum depth of 668 m. Eighty rivers flow into the lake, and none flow out of it. The water of the lake is rich in various salts. Its length from west to east is more than 250 km, and its width is 70 km.

Unique in its beauty and richness, Lake Sary-Chelek can only be compared to Lake Ritsa and the lakes of Switzerland. The lake is located at an altitude of 1,874 m above sea level. Its length is 8 km, and its width ranges from 300 m to 4 km. Sary-Chelek is the second deepest (244 m) lake in Kyrgyzstan after Issyk-Kul. It contains 456 million cubic meters of fresh water, enough to provide drinking water for nearly a third of humanity for a year.

Lake Son-Kul is unique in its own way. This unique body of water stretches among mountain ranges rising above 3,000 m above sea level. The area of the water mirror is 275 square kilometers, with a maximum depth of 16.1 m and a volume of 282 cubic kilometers.

In the annual message of the UN Secretary-General, it is stated that arid areas cover more than 40% of the total land area on our planet, where about one-third of the world's population lives. Due to poverty, unsustainable land use, and climate change, arid lands are turning into deserts, and desertification leads to poverty and exacerbates this problem.

This misfortune has also affected our republic, where there are several threats to soil conditions: salinization, solonetzation, waterlogging, stoniness, wind, and water erosion. For example, out of 20 million hectares of land in the republic, more than 4 million hectares are occupied by stony soils, 220,000 hectares are subject to salinization processes, and about half of the total area of agricultural land is subject to water and wind erosion. As a result of these reasons, the shortfall in grain harvests due to soil degradation ranges from 15 to 50% across the republic, and for forage crops, it ranges from 20 to 50%.

The Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, celebrated by the global community, will draw attention to the problems of soil degradation in our republic and make us think about what can be done to restore agricultural lands so as not to leave our descendants a lifeless desert.

JUNE 20

WORLD REFUGEE DAY

The situation of refugees is one of the most complex problems of the modern world, as it affects the fundamental interests of peoples or states. Deprived of access to social and legal protection, refugees find themselves the most vulnerable group of the population. This sharply increases the need for the international community to take measures to alleviate their plight. World Refugee Day is dedicated to those seeking asylum, refugees, and internally displaced persons around the world.

Over more than half a century of existence, the office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and its partners have helped more than 50 million people start a new life.

The Kyrgyz Republic experienced a massive influx of refugees in the 1990s when more than 16,000 Tajik citizens, fleeing from the civil war in their homeland, were registered as refugees. At that time, and today, the people and government of the Kyrgyz Republic show their support for refugees. In 1995, a representative office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees was opened in Kyrgyzstan. In accordance with its international obligations, our country creates the necessary conditions for them: a legislative framework has been established, necessary procedures and mechanisms for determining refugee status have been implemented, and problems are being resolved. As a result, in recent years, the number of refugees in the Kyrgyz Republic has significantly decreased. The Kyrgyz Republic thus demonstrates respect for and support for international law and human rights.

JUNE 23

DAY OF WORKERS OF THE STATE SERVICE OF KYRGYZSTAN

It is difficult to overestimate the social role and significance of the activities of civil servants in modern conditions. As is known, the successful development and future of any country largely depend on their effective work and high personal and moral qualities. The competent organization of labor, ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of the state administration system, is a complex socio-applied science, where both professional and life experience, as well as innovative approaches and solutions, are very important. This is especially true for the civil service of Kyrgyzstan, where fundamental reforms are being carried out in all spheres of life, and the personnel of civil servants is being renewed. Over the years of independence, the civil service of Kyrgyzstan has gone through a long and complex path of formation, bearing the responsibility for solving the most important tasks aimed at stabilizing and strengthening the state. Civil servants of Kyrgyzstan contribute to the revival and prosperity of their homeland.

JUNE 26

INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLEGAL TRAFFICKING

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking is celebrated by the global community. The fight against the spread of drugs and the control of their circulation has a history of nearly a century. In February 1909, the Shanghai Opium Commission, in which 13 countries participated, attempted to find ways to limit the import of drugs from Asian countries. However, today, a century later, the world is still far from solving the problem. For example, official data states that there are currently more than 11,000 registered drug users in Kyrgyzstan, but experts recommend multiplying this number by 10 to understand the real scale of the problem.

Kyrgyzstan does not stand aside from the fight against drug addiction. Today, there are a sufficient number of organizations in Kyrgyzstan that counteract the spread of drug addiction. But it is necessary to understand that one cannot cope with the problem of the century alone. Therefore, only by uniting efforts and activating all layers of the population can we achieve the desired victory. Thus, in order to strengthen anti-drug cooperation, stable connections have been established and developed with competent structures of the CIS countries, authoritative international organizations, and donor countries.
