The Trump Administration is Considering a Naval Blockade of Cuba
At the moment, no final decision has been made, and there is a division within the administration: there are both supporters and opponents of this measure.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio supports the introduction of the blockade, however, some officials express concerns that a complete halt to oil supplies could trigger a humanitarian crisis in the country. The Cuban economy is already suffering due to reduced supplies from Venezuela.
The publication Politico emphasizes that the blockade is one of the methods of pressure on the Cuban communist leadership. Earlier, Donald Trump stated that Havana would not receive either oil or financial assistance from Caracas, and called on the Cuban authorities to negotiate with Washington.
