Nikolai Valuev, a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, commented on a video that appeared on social media in Central Asia, in which he is attributed with a call for the application of a "carrot and stick" policy towards the countries of the region. This video has caused a wide public resonance, but many users began to doubt its authenticity, suspecting that it is a skillfully made deepfake.
Valuev himself confirmed these suspicions, noting in his Telegram that the internet today is not only a source of useful information but also of potential threats.
According to him, "information presented in the right light with video footage is always oriented towards perception." He emphasized that modern technologies allow for the creation of films without human involvement, and this has become accessible to many. However, in his opinion, inexperienced users are more susceptible to manipulation. "This video has nothing to do with me. It is nice to realize that such videos are created using artificial intelligence. I often raise issues related to AI and fake videos," Valuev added.
He also reminded that such technologies are actively used by entire states and are continuously evolving.
In conclusion, the deputy urged everyone to be cautious and not to succumb to manipulation: "One should not be gullible. Remember that those who shout the loudest about injustice are often the ones at fault themselves. Therefore, it is better to think once before sharing information, especially if the sources are questionable. I wish you strength and wisdom!" - concluded Nikolai Valuev.
