"Today, only 15% of citizens engage in sports"
The Kyrgyz Republic has developed an ambitious program aimed at the development of physical culture and sports until 2030. This document is currently available for public discussion.
The program covers a wide range of areas, including mass and professional sports, infrastructure development, personnel training, digitalization, and support for national sports. The main goal is to create an accessible, modern, and sustainable system that promotes the health of citizens and enhances the competitiveness of Kyrgyz athletes on the international stage.
At present, only 15% of the country's population regularly engages in physical activity, and the authorities intend to increase this figure to 30%. To achieve this, it is planned to expand access to sports sections, school leagues, student competitions, and events for adults and the elderly. More than 3,000 mass sporting events will be organized annually as part of the program to promote physical activity, the authors of the initiative noted.
A key aspect of the program is the development of infrastructure. Plans include the construction of accessible sports complexes in rural areas, the creation of sports zones and tracks, as well as the erection of modular facilities. All sports infrastructure in the country will undergo an inventory to identify and eliminate shortages.
In addition, there are plans to train specialists such as sports doctors, psychologists, nutritionists, coaches, and referees, as well as modernize the education system and state orders.
Centers for national sports, including kok-boru and Kyrgyz traditional games, will be established in each district.
Digitalization will be implemented everywhere, including the creation of a national digital platform for e-sports.
State and municipal authorities will be required to report twice a year on the implementation of the action plan.
