At today's plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh, which took place on February 4, the deputies discussed and unanimously approved a bill concerning amendments to the law "On Renewable Energy Sources," passing it in the second and third readings.

Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov presented information about the bill. He emphasized that this document has been developed in accordance with the presidential decree regarding attracting investments in the green economy, particularly in the fuel and energy complex.

The main content of the bill involves the cancellation of the guaranteed tariff with a coefficient of 1.3 for electricity generated using renewable energy sources (RES).
Additionally, currently, electricity tariffs are set by the Cabinet of Ministers in the national currency. The new bill allows for the determination of prices in foreign currency for the implementation of investment projects and public-private partnership projects in the fuel and energy sector. This, in turn, is expected to increase the interest of foreign investors and improve the overall investment climate in the country.

The bill also clarifies the concept of the grace period for the application of the maximum tariff for RES and introduces the term "auction." This mechanism will be used for selecting projects and determining tariffs, which will allow for a reduction in the maximum tariff level. Such measures are aimed at ensuring transparency in the selection process and enhancing the competitiveness of projects.
