The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry has called on citizens to comply with water legislation when using groundwater for drinking and technical purposes.

According to information provided by the ministry's press service, the Land and Water Control Service noted that drilling a well requires obtaining a license and a corresponding licensing agreement from the State Geological Service. It is also necessary to prepare a project and undergo an environmental assessment. After the well is put into operation, it is important to keep track of the volume of extracted water using a water measuring device and to pay the "royalty" tax.

The royalty rate is 15 tyiyns per liter of drinking water and 10 tyiyns for technical water.

The ministry noted that for drilling a well up to 30 meters deep for an individual residential house, if technical water is used, no documentation is required. However, in the case of using water for business activities, such as for baths, restaurants, or car washes, compliance with all norms and requirements is mandatory.

Failure to comply with water legislation is subject to administrative sanctions. Fines for individuals range from 1,000 to 20,000 soms, while for legal entities, they range from 13,000 to 65,000 soms. Additionally, there may be additional fines for the damage caused.
