Omurbek Tekebaev explained why his name is mentioned in the "Epstein files"
He reminded that in 2017, while returning from Vienna to Bishkek, he was detained by the authorities during the rule of Almazbek Atambayev. This incident led to a worsening of the political situation in the country, resulting in several rallies by Tekebaev's supporters, and international observers began to note the instability in Kyrgyzstan and the possibility of a repeat of the events of 2010.
According to him, it was in the context of analyzing political risks that his name was mentioned in international analyses. This information later appeared in the so-called Epstein files, he explained.
Tekebaev emphasized that his mention is not related to him as a "person of interest," but rather as a political element that is subject to observation in risk assessment. He also added that the materials related to the "Epstein files" mention other historical figures, such as Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Mandela, and many others.
“This does not mean that they had any relation to this context, but rather that analytical institutions use examples and political models for their work,” noted Tekebaev.
The ambassador considers it necessary to provide this clarification to stop the spread of rumors and speculation.
