The Prosecutor General's Office of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed concern about the possible change in its constitutional status

The agency expressed protest against the abolition of ranks and titles for civilian prosecutors.

At a meeting of the parliamentary committee on constitutional legislation, the position of the Prosecutor General's Office of Kyrgyzstan was revealed, which opposed the abolition of ranks and military titles for prosecutors working in civilian institutions.

The discussion concerns two bills: one proposes changes related to the transition to a new system of class ranks, while the other implies a reduction in the use of special titles in civilian state structures, such as the Tax and Customs Services, leaving them only for law enforcement and military agencies.

Deputy Prosecutor General Umutkan Konkubaeva noted that the proposed changes could negatively affect the constitutional status of the Prosecutor General's Office, which is an independent and autonomous body, and could lead to a weakening of prosecutorial oversight and a decrease in effectiveness in the fight against crime.
