Dastan Bekeshev: "God does not reveal the cards to us"

Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Dastan Bekeshev gave an interview to VB.KG, in which he discussed the current situation in the parliament and in the country, as well as explained why predictions in Kyrgyz politics often turn out to be ineffective.

- Dastan Dalabaevich, how do you assess the developments in light of recent news? What is the situation in the country and parliament at the moment?

- The situation in the country and in the parliament is quite stable. The process of electing a speaker is proceeding predictably: whatever candidate is nominated, that is the one the parliament supports. Therefore, there are no concerns.

As for forecasts, it is quite a thankless task. Too many factors remain beyond control. There is a well-known philosopher and economist Nassim Taleb, who introduced the term "black swan." He argued that attempts to predict events usually end in failure. I completely agree with him. In our country, it is especially difficult to make predictions.

- Are you referring to the unexpected recent personnel changes?

- Absolutely. What happened on February 10 was a complete surprise for many. Many believed that such events could only occur before or after presidential elections. But no one expected it to happen so quickly. To be honest, the speed of events was a surprise for us.

Therefore, it makes no sense to make plans for the future — only God knows what awaits us tomorrow. We live in the present, as the future remains a mystery.
