Bishkek Court Sentences Several Politicians from the 'List of 75' to Prison

The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek has ruled to detain several key figures involved in a high-profile case related to an appeal from a group of public figures to the authorities. Five detainees will remain in detention center No. 1 until April 10.

The arrested list includes individuals who have held high government positions over the years:

Kursan Asanov - former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs; Bekbolot Talgarbekov - leader of the "People's Parliament" movement; Aaly Karashev - former deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh; Emilbek Uzakbaev - former diplomat who represented Kyrgyzstan in Uzbekistan; Kurmanbek Duykanbaev - former presidential envoy to parliament.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the actions of the detainees are classified as preparation for organizing mass riots.

The investigation began after the publication of an open letter on February 9, signed by 75 individuals, including former heads of government, scholars, and ex-deputies. The letter called for the holding of extraordinary elections. Law enforcement agencies saw this appeal as a threat to socio-political stability, which could provoke unrest among the population.
