Sergey Vakunov, the Russian ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic, shared information about the future of the airbase "Kant".
According to him, there is no need to expand this airbase.
The diplomat noted: "Experts have concluded that the current operational parameters of the airbase are quite sufficient to ensure the security of the member countries of the union from the southern direction".
For reference: the airbase was established in Kyrgyzstan in 2001 in response to a request from the local leadership related to the threat of international terrorism.
