The GKNB emphasized the importance of the role of judges and prosecutors
The State National Security Committee (GKNB) responded to the proposal of former deputy Iskhak Masaliev regarding the review of criminal cases. In its response, the GKNB stated that only courts have the right to review and overturn sentences, while the prosecutor's office is responsible for examining and overturning procedural decisions made by investigators.
The idea of creating any commission to review criminal cases contradicts the fundamental principles of the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution.
It is worth reminding that former deputy Iskhak Masaliev proposed to review high-profile criminal cases that have been considered by the GKNB over the past five years.
