Starting from November 2026, Uzbekistan will implement an experiment to introduce a panel of people's representatives. In Tashkent and its region, criminal cases related to particularly serious crimes will be considered with the participation of jurors, made possible by a new decree signed by the president.
Additionally, as part of the judicial reform in Uzbekistan, the powers of investigative judges will be expanded, allowing them to independently cancel arrests. Significant attention will also be given to the rights of lawyers, who will gain access to case materials at any stage of the process and will be able to send requests to government bodies for free. The judicial system will also be allowed to reduce fines for conscientious exporters to support businesses.
