Sergey Vakunov: Respect for defenders is common for the peoples of the Russian Federation and Kyrgyz Republic

A solemn event dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day was held in Bishkek, organized by the Russian embassy. Representatives of the diplomatic mission, military personnel, veterans, as well as public figures and residents of the capital attended the celebration. A concert featuring musical and dance performances was prepared for the guests, creating an atmosphere of respect for the military and a shared historical memory.

Sergey Vakunov, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Russia to Kyrgyzstan, noted in an interview with the publication VB.KG that this event has become a tradition held annually.

"This is a traditional event organized by the Russian embassy in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day. Judging by the reaction and the number of guests who attended, we understand that this holiday generates great interest and respect among our friends from the Kyrgyz Republic," he emphasized.

According to the ambassador, respect for the defenders of the homeland in both countries is rooted in a shared history, as well as in the joint Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In Russia and Kyrgyzstan, the title of defender of the homeland is very honorable.

He also recalled the famous film "Officers," which features the well-known phrase: "There is such a profession - to defend the Motherland!" "We see that this profession is respected, and people are happy to come together with us to celebrate this significant holiday for all of us," added Vakunov.
