In Uzbekistan, the cost of education for farmers' children will be reduced

The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, announced the start of a large-scale reform plan in the agricultural sector, which will affect not only the education system but also the use of the country's land resources.

One of the key innovations will be the introduction of preferences for farmers' children. Applicants from farming families who do not score the required number of points for admission to the Tashkent State Agrarian University will be able to enroll in studies at a reduced cost.

The system of vocational training will also undergo significant changes. The training period for specialists in seven main areas will be reduced from four to three years. The curricula will become more practical, including training in managing agro-drones and skills for working as a tractor driver-operator. To reinforce knowledge, large-scale practical training is planned: more than 6,800 students will be sent to agro-clusters and enterprises, while 2,600 individuals will undergo internships at research institutes under the Ministry of Agriculture.

In the scientific field, resource consolidation is planned. A unified Academy of Agricultural Sciences will be established in the country, which will unite 22 research centers, 260 laboratories, and more than 2,500 researchers.

Alongside educational reforms, the country will focus on expanding the feed base. By 2030, it is planned to develop and improve the condition of about 940,000 hectares of pastures, which is expected to boost livestock development and significantly increase the production of meat and wool.
