Principle or Compromising Material? What Lies Behind the Departure of Deputy Sulaymanov

A scandalous audio recording may be the reason for the departure

The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan has lost one of its most vocal critics: Deputy Kunduzbek Sulaymanov has decided to voluntarily resign from his mandate amid political instability.

Sulaymanov became one of those who openly expressed disagreement with the presidential initiative regarding driving schools and criticized accusations of populism against deputies. He emphasized that the parliament is an independent body, and deputies have the right to their own opinions, not obliged to follow others' directives. This was a vivid demonstration of his principled stance on the freedom of legislative power.

Additionally, information has emerged online about a compromising audio recording, which allegedly features voices resembling those of Kunduzbek Sulaymanov and the general director of "Electric Stations," Kursantbek Omurbekov. The discussion touches on issues of personnel policy in the energy sector. However, the authenticity of this recording and the circumstances of its emergence require further verification and legal assessment.

Today, the Central Election Commission made the decision to terminate the deputy's powers.
