The government of Kyrgyzstan has decided to keep strategic resources within the country.
The government of Kyrgyzstan has imposed a temporary ban on the export of used catalysts and waste containing precious metals. This decision is aimed at combating the illegal export of valuable resources and protecting strategic raw materials within the state.
According to the adopted decree, the export of the following materials will be prohibited for six months:
- used catalysts;
- slags, ashes, and other waste with metals intended solely for processing;
- residues of palladium, rhodium, and platinum obtained from processing catalysts;
- elements of the exhaust system (mufflers and pipes) if they contain catalysts.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are required to notify the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Eurasian Economic Commission, and the Executive Committee of the CIS about the new ban within three days.
The previously effective decree on a similar ban, adopted on September 8, 2025, has lost its validity.
The new measures will come into effect in seven days.
